Stanley was 11 X 7 feet and made on canvas. I think Stanley is the largest portrait I have ever made! ever. I created Stanley in my art studio by hanging the canvas on the wall and crawling all over ladders, tables, chairs, even my piano!
The project was made for a wonderful organization in East Harlem named union settlement. Stanley was a staff member there and sadly passed away unexpectedly in April. The mural I made of him was for a ceremony honoring him and other things at union settlement.
I wish I could have know Stanley myself, he was very well-loved. Not to mention, him and I share the same phrase:
I know that's right!
